The type and number of extinguishers shall be determined taking into account the class of the potential fire, the suitability of the extinguishing media for extinguishing the fire, the effectiveness, the maximum extinguishing area, the characteristics of the materials used in the premises or installations, the category of the premises with regard to the risk of explosion and fire, and the physicochemical properties of the materials used and stored in the premises.

Fire class notation:

  • Class A fires. Combustible solid materials: wood, paper, rubber, plastics, textiles, etc.
  • Class B fires. Flammable liquids: petrol, alcohol, varnish, lubricants, etc.
  • Class C fires. Burning gases: hydrogen, acetylene, hydrocarbons, etc.
  • Class D fires. Flammable metals and their alloys: potassium, sodium, magnesium.

The product is certified by the Fire Research Center for consistency of performance.
